Isaac Fix

My mom called today and told me that she needed more pictures of Isaac. So, being the good-little-PERFECT-faaaaaavorite-middle child that I am, I took Isaac outside for a photo shoot so I could grant my mother her request! Take that Aaron and Lisa! (my siblings)
I think these pictures would look great edited. Like to black and white or even a sepia. I'm not good at that though. I have a hard time changing originals.

Don't be fooled by all the other smiling pictures. This boy definitely has his moments! Here he is screaming at me, at the top of his lunges, because I wouldn't give him a snack... BUT only because he wasn't saying please!

I confess...

... that I crave chocolate (or oreo) milkshakes and will get one whenever I can!
... that I still nurse Isaac in the morning because that gives me 15-20 more minutes to lay in bed!
... that I give my child fast food french fries even though I said I never would!
... that I deep clean my house when I find a spider. Thankfully I don't find them very often so I'm hoping that's because we're clean people!
... that I told Shaun to turn the water from the hose back on because Isaac had it pointed right in his face! I know, totally mean... but so funny!
... that I was only going to gain the 2-3 lbs. you're supposed to during first trimester... I'm already at five! Darn milkshakes!!!
... that I have to plug my nose when I take a shower because the soap smells are too much for me to handle!
... that I've been pretty useless these past few weeks! Besides having to sit outside while Shaun cooks dinner because the smell is too strong, I just don't have the energy to do anything!
... that I thought my California boy was a sissy la la! We went to the beach today and for the first 45 minutes Isaac wanted nothing to do with the sand. He was content to sit in the chair or roll around on the beach towels (remember: He's very neat and doesn't do dirt). Shaun finally made him face his fears and by the end he couldn't get enough. He was running wild!

Content to just snuggle in the blanket!

Father and son playing ball

When the waves would go back into the ocean Isaac would try and call them back (waving his arm or "snapping" his fingers).

There were several big trucks that went by... Isaac loved every one of them!

The Comedian

Is it me or am I always posting about Isaac's obsession with SHOES? Sorry, but I think it's so funny! Our shoes are all over the house. If we leave our closet door open, then we are guaranteed to find Isaac in there trying on all our shoes! He even throws them downstairs so he can wear them while he plays. Yesterday Isaac went up to Shaun and demanded that he take his shoes off so that he could put them on.
I'm also happy to announce that Isaac is back to saying "shoe" the correct way. For several weeks it clearly sounded like he was saying "sh**!" It was so embarrassing.

Our Little Peanut!

We had an ultrasound today (for reals) and I am relieved to announce that there is only 1 little baby growing inside me! I know a lot of you were keeping your fingers crossed for twins or triplets in hopes to get back at me for my April Fool's joke! Too bad! Well, maybe your pay back could be that my doctor extended my due date by four whole days and I was not happy about that.:) My new estimated due date is November 17th... NOT Friday the 13th! I understand that it's just a number and that Peanut will come when he/she is ready but gosh golly I was so thrilled that I was finally ten weeks... A fourth of the way done!!! Now I'm back to nine! Nine is nothing! And now I have to do it twice!

So Peanut is our baby's name at the moment because that's exactly what he/she looks like in the ultrasound. We could see arms, legs, and an amazingly strong heart beat, but it's super hard to see in a picture. ALTHOUGH, according to my most recently evaluated wives tale, it could be miss Peanut! Some of my friends think I'm crazy but constantly guessing boy or girl totally entertains me! I knew Isaac was a boy from the beginning but I have mixed feelings about this one. Anyway, the reason I'm leaning toward "miss" is because of how the baby is laying. Judging by vaginal ultrasounds, typically boys lay face down and girls lay face up. Isaac was face down and this one is face up. If you want to humor me mommys, check out your ultrasounds and let me know which way your baby is facing. I will be shocked if Peanut is a girl though. For some reason I feel like I'm meant to be a mom of all boys! All that pink overwhelms me a little too!

We're thankful that Peanut is alive and well and can't wait to meet face to face in November! Thank you God for our second precious baby!

Peanut is laying on "her" back, face up!
Sorry Peanut if you're actually a boy!

Home Sweet California

Isaac and I got home from Arizona today and I want to go back! It was so nice to be taken care of and to have all the extra help with Isaac, especially when I feel like I want to throw up all the time! This pregnancy is definitely taking its toll on me. I am constantly gagging or trying to control my breathing so I don't gag. I am EXTREMELY sensitive to smells. I wish I could just turn my "super sniffer" off! If I stink for the next few months, it's because of this little problem. Soaps and perfumes really get to me. To be even more depressing, Shaun is working 'til tomorrow morning so we haven't seen him yet. So all we came home to was a smelly house (yes, I even HATE the smell of my own house) and an empty fridge. Actually, great friends, Laura and Austin, picked us up from the airport and Shaun had tulips and anti-nausea pills waiting for me on the counter! So sweet! I do have to learn how to take care of my son on my own again though. We had only been home an hour and Isaac was already covered solid in chalk paint and had fallen and given himself a fat lip! Wow!

So, I guess I'll be done with my sob stories and give a quick review of the week.

I got to hang out with two of my best childhood friends. Julie lives in Arizona so I always get to see her when I go home but Carla is in Colorado and I haven't seen her since my baby shower in Sept. '07. It was her first time meeting Isaac and my first time meeting her little girl! In elementary school, jr. high, and high school the three of us were inseparable. It's sad that we all live in different states now. We always pick up where we left off though!

Isaac also got to go to a little petting zoo at my parent's church. He loved it!!! He wanted to chase every duck, pet every rabbit, and pull the horns of every goat.

We had a wonderful Easter and spent most of the day outside playing ball (egg hunt). Isaac would take a plastic egg to the grass, step on it so that it would split open, and then take it to my mom so she could fix it. He did this over and over and over. He also spent a lot of time with Iso (Isoisa is grandpa in Finnish). They pulled weeds, painted the driveway (with water), hung up side down, and played every sport imaginable. It was a wonderful week and I'm looking forward to the next trip. Dad, thanks for taking care of Isaac so that mom could take care of me! Thanks mom!

Carla, me , Julie

Daniel (4) and Isaac

Cailey (13 mo) and Isaac (17 mo). Cailey is so petite. She only weighs 15 lbs. That was Isaac at 2 mo. Can you see the size difference in their hands?

Isaac spent most of his time out back with my parents cat. They were best buds... Chasing birds and trying to eat the oranges off the tree. Isaac decided the peel is pretty gross.

Trying to pick the goat up!

Getting dessert from Tati (aunt in Finnish). Oh yeah, we also did some wedding planning. Lisa got her dress, but I of course can't post a picture (we wouldn't want Mike to see it)!

Watching hockey with Iso

Easter pictures

Always entertaining! Isaac with G.G. Mom and Mummu (grandma in Finnish. See the theme?)

Isaac would love to be the little brother. Here he is with Kyle and Ryan. I used to baby-sit them and they were also the ring bearers in my wedding!

Missing my family!

I left for work on Monday, and Erica and Isaac left for Phoenix to visit her family. I will have only been home by myself two days by the time they get home( I was working on the rest of the days). But man is it boring without them. It's tiring having our little guy running around all day long expecting us to chase him, but boy is it the best thing in the world! My family is my livelihood and my joy. I am so blessed to have two of the most special people in the world living under my roof with me. God has blessed us beyond measure. He has shown me what true unconditional love looks like in how he has called me to love the both of them (well I guess all three of them if you count the bun in the oven! :) I know they are having a great time with the inlaws, but It's time for them to come back to me. I MISS YOU AND LOVE YOU BOTH! Isaac, take care of your mommy for me and remember to rub her back like I taught you, she really likes that ;)

Easter Egg HuntS

Last weekend Isaac participated in his first egg hunt (they grow so fast)! Our Young Marrieds Bible Study group got together with the kiddos and enjoyed a hunt and a picnic. Isaac couldn't believe all the colorful "balls" that people had left for him in the grass. He was in boy heaven! Even though it was his first hunt, he did such a great job! Later that day we headed to Grandma and Grandpa Higgins' house for another "ball" hunt, dinner, and Easter baskets. Isaac found grandpa's fire helmet and wore it the whole time we were there (I forgot my camera so no pictures though)! Isaac and I are in Arizona all this week so he still has two more egg hunts to go. WOW! Good thing his grandmas know to fill the eggs with gold fish, cereal, and teddy grahams.

His "helmet" came in quite handy for carrying all his eggs! Imagine that!

Such a perfect park for hiding Easter eggs!

All the kids after the hunt! Isaac was a little overwhelmed at this point!

Oh no! The orange shoes are back!!! His favorite pumpkin crocs are too small so these were in his Easter basket.

Safety First

When desperate for a helmet, use your firetruck Easter basket! We've taught him well... Every stunt he did on his bike today, he made sure to have his helmet on (we're still working on the rest of the body gear though)!

Twins!

We just had an ultrasound and found out we're having TWINS!!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
April fools!... Well, there is a 3% chance I could be pregnant with twins but I don't have my first ultrasound until the 15th!
