Happy Thanksgiving!
Holy cow! Can you tell that our child did NOT want to have his picture taken!?! To some it may look like he's laughing but if you had been there, then you would know that everything in his strong little body was fighting to get away. That's why our hands are all over him... We were hanging on has hard as we could! Isaac was not about to focus or hold still with three big fire trucks to play on (we spent our day at the fire station because Grandpa Higgins had to work). I was hoping for Christmas pictures but we may still try again for a true smile from the little "I've got my own agenda" man!

November, yet feels like September
So, it's late November and while other states are enjoying snow ball fights and hot chocolate by the fire, Southern California is still soaking up the rays! I have mixed feelings about the weather. I'm loving that it's not hot and it's an absolute perfect temperature, BUT it is almost December so I'm ready for winter (I think it's coming SOON).
Yesterday we enjoyed a few hours at the lake on the jet skis. It was Isaac's first time and Shaun said, "he is definitely a natural." Isaac wasn't a fan of the wind in his face so Shaun turned him around and he talked to the waves and ducks behind him.

I'm Thankful for Isaac - which means laughter!
Peek a boo has been the big game in our house this week. Isaac will put anything over his head and then hold perfectly still while letting out little "I'm so sneaky they'll never find me" giggles. When he thinks we've missed him long enough, he yanks whatever is on his head off and lets out a huge "I'm right here" scream! This is the latest item that he walks around with on his head... Some furry cat bed thing that has a tail! Shaun and I were laughing so hard. It was the kind of laughter that comes straight from the belly and then gets lost somewhere because nothing comes out!!! He won't wear hats but he has no problem wearing stuffed animals, blankets, or furry cat beds!

Thankful for Family!
Ok, Isaac's birthday can be over... I can move on to the next celebration! This month I am really going to focus on what I am thankful for most in my life. I figured family was a good place to start!

5 Days Old...
This doesn't even look like my Isaac... So small, so quiet, so still. Now he's so big, so loud, so constantly on the go. It's hard to believe how much he's grown and all that he's learned in one short year! I know, his birthday was yesterday and I need to move on but I can't get over what a miracle he is (I only have a short time to reflect on so that makes it easy too)! I sometimes wonder if I will be this taken by him on his 16th and 20th birthday? Experienced Moms, does it ever get old? Will I always be this in love?

More of the Birthday Boy!
Strike two! We saved Isaac's turtle birthday cake for today, hoping he would make us proud and dig right in! Nope!!! He poked it to death and then fussed when he couldn't get the frosting off his fingers. I guess I should have let him play in the dirt more often, he's too clean! He took a few bites but just didn't care for the sweet taste.
We're in Arizona visiting my family this week so Isaac has gotten plenty of attention today... Lots of walks, pushes in his car, hugs, and a whole living room floor covered in toys!
Even though life is still all about Isaac, I guess I should address the number one question people are constantly asking us... "When is Isaac going to have a little brother or sister?" Well, Shaun and I said that we would start talking when Isaac turned one and since he's one, we'll start talking! That's all I've got for you! ;)

Poke, poke, poke.... yucky!
Four generations - G.G. Mom, Grammie, Mommy, and Me!
I'll do it myself...
Ryan came over to give Isaac a birthday present. I used to baby-sit him and his older brother, Kyle. They were also ring bearers in our wedding. As you can see, Isaac ripped the card in half. He looked at the Elmo side while Ryan read him the side with the words! Worked out great! ;)
Happy 1st Birthday Isaac
Wow! It's been one whole year already! I think I was up half the night remembering the events that led up to Isaac's 7:15am birth. Kinda ironic that he woke up at 7:15 this morning too. I'll post more through out the day, but I had to get something blogged right away!
Birth weight: 7lbs. 15oz.
Today's weight: 26lbs. 2oz.
Birth height: 20 1/2 in.
Today's height: 31 1/4 in.

Happy Birthday Party Isaac
Saturday we had a little birthday celebration for Isaac. He was blessed to have all of his little friends and family together. They were definitely generous with their gifts too (our house now looks like a little toy store)! It was a Hawaiian theme party for our little surfer dude! G-Daddy even made a surfboard and turtle cake. Sadly, I have to report that Isaac wasn't quite himself. He was either in my lap with an "I'm not so sure about this" look, crying, or sleeping. I don't think he cracked one smile... That is until everyone left and he was stripped down to his diaper. He's had a runny nose for the past two weeks so his nap schedule hasn't been normal. I think he was extra tired. Poor guy! I'll admit that I've been planning his 1st birthday since the day he was born and the one thing I couldn't wait for was cake time! I'm sure this is the highlight for every child's 1st birthday - cramming the sweet frosting in their mouth and all over their face, enjoying their first sugar rush as everyone laughs and blinds them with the camera flash! Well, can you guess what Isaac was doing during dessert time? Sleeping!!! The cake is in the freezer and we're going to try again on Wednesday. I just used it as another teaching moment, things don't always go as planned so get over it!
Since there were a gazillion photos, and because they were all so cute I couldn't choose which ones to blog, you can check out Isaac's site and see them all! I will warn you though. I love every single picture and think they are all soooo different, but you will probably think I'm crazy and flip through them very fast, while wondering if I just posted the same picture over and over. You will totally see what I mean by Isaac's "I'm not so sure about this" look though!
